This contribution provides an overview of the current state of affairs with regards to the investigation of the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine on the 17 July 2014 and the progress of (decision-making with regards to) legal recourse (potentially to be) sought in relation to the downing. An overview is also provided of the distinct forms of legal recourse which have been mentioned as options. Some reflections on the type and scope of response that would be desirable conclude the article.
