With an expected date of publication to occur in 2018, the new European Union (EU) Regulation on common rules in the field of civil aviation (hereinafter referred to as the New Basic Regulation) will consolidate the international dimension of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), opening up interesting perspectives to its coordinating role. This article will briefly describe the evolution of the international framework of EASA since the founding Regulation in 2002 and offer a summary of the expected regulatory changes.
