Late 2011, the Dutch social housing association Vestia was headed for financial ruin in the Netherlands because Vestia faced margin calls from banks with which it had entered into derivative contracts, and Vestia would be unable to put up the requested collateral. This resulted in a dispute between Vestia and Credit Suisse International that led to the Credit Suisse International v. Stichting Vestia Group [2014] EWHC 3103 (Comm) court decision.
