Courts and arbitration panels in Germany are still struggling with liability cases arising out of the financial crisis. In this, special attention has been given to the liability of managing directors under the Stock Corporation Act. Most of the liability suits relate to the disastrous impacts of investments by German banks in US-structured securities. The leading case concerns the Dusseldorf-based IKB ('Industriekreditbank').
