This article attempts to sketch the various meanings of the “development of arbitration,” as represented by Arab practitioners within the so–called “field” of arbitration. The ways in which the new generation of Arab practitioners engage in the self-analysis of their positions within the field of arbitration and their role in the local and international context is particularly explored.
